The PV system is part of this larger scheme – the York EcoDepot and Sustainable Construction Interpretation Centre, which aims to raise awareness of sustainable development, climate change and sustainable construction techniques and technologies to a wide range of audiences from school children to architects and developers.
The EcoDepot is made up of a range of buildings including workshops, storage, staff facilities and an office building. It is this office building that provides the centre piece for the EcoDepot, on whose roof the PV system is located and which houses the interpretation centre. The whole EcoDepot demonstrates sustainable development: principles from the choice of materials, to rain water harvesting and renewable energy. The office building is a timber framed, straw bale clad building which is the largest of its type in the EU and highly energy efficient. | | Keywords | (bipv) building integrated pv |
